SEBI wants PSUs to follow holding norm
The new rules introduced by Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee in this year’s budget, state that firms in which promoters own more than three-fourths of the shares should increase the public float by 5 percent annually. India-Vodafone Fight Tests Political Ties
The Wall Street Journal has reported on the British Prime Minister David Cameron's visit this week to India could be dampened by the tax dispute between Vodafone, a UK company and the Indian tax authority. This decision will impact foreign companies who look to India as a market for investments.
Rajiv Luthra Managing Partner, Luthra & Luthra has quoted, "If Vodafone loses, it will have pretty serious ramifications."
Manish Antani, Barnes & Thornburg LLP, US based law firm said, "He doesn't beleive that foreign investors will be scared off by the Vodafone case but that foreign acquirers should expect high scrutiny from Indian courts for any questionable tax-saving attempts."
