The Legal Aid Society of Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi is organizing an International Conference on the theme; legal aid catalyst for social change on March 17, 2012.
The concept of legal aid encompasses a broad range of activities that aim at social advancement by creativity utilizing the instrument of law.
Realizing the need of legal aid and being mindful of the challenges faced by the people working in this field, the idea behind the conference is to organize a forum for debate on various issues converging on the broad theme of legal aid.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, the Convener of Legal Aid Society CLC, Dr Raman Mittal, says, “The idea behind the conference is to bring together all the stakeholders and to foster a dialogue, so that we can learn from each other’s experience and grow in our work towards providing legal aid to the masses”.
The target group of the conference comprises of international and national professionals, judges, lawyers, academicians, government officials and students.
Professionals who have been working in the field of legal aid are invited to share their experiences by writing papers.
The paper could be on any issues related to legal aid either listed in the detailed programme or any topic which neighbours on the listed issues.
Selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings in a book form and their authors will be invited to give a presentation in the conference.
Interested authors may send the abstracts of their paper in about 350 words latest by February 6, 2012 and the soft copy of the complete paper to be sent by latest February 29, 2012 in order to be accommodated in the proposed book.
Certificates will be issued to all participants. There is no registration fee. However, the participants and paper presenters must register themselves.
