The School of Excellence in Law , Chennai walked away being winners of the inaugural Christ Law School moot court competition after beating KLE Law College, Bangalore in the finals of the moot. Naveen Kumar of the School of Excellence also won the best speaker prize while NUALS, Kochi won the best memorial.

The valedictory had Rajya Sabha MP, Oscar Fenandes as its guest of honour and Union Law Minister, Veerappa Moily as the Chief Guest. During the course of his speech Moily said that within four years, Indian law schools should become global leaders in law and called for reforms in “Litigation and Judicial Accountability”. The Law Minister also called for the creation of an “All India Judicial Service” along with a “National Legal Service”.

Moily also stressed on the need for more NLU's and said "there will be 15 NLUs in the next 2-3 years” along with “5 research institutes of world class for faculty training”.

The finals were judged by Senior Advocates, Shanti Bhushan, Udaya Holla and Subramaniam Jois. Mr.Bhushan told the students that “Law is a coveted Profession” and that “You can wipe off the tears of many people by your ardent advocacy.” He also said that “My biggest satisfaction has been in those cases I have conducted free”. The moot finals were held on Sunday, August 22, 2010 and were witnessed by a crowd of over a thousand.
