The Tamil Nadu government has appointed Senior Advocates Prashanto Chandra Sen and Haripriya Padmanabhan as Counsel for the State in the rank of Additional Advocate General to represent the government before the Supreme Court.
The appointments were notified by the Home (Courts-IV) Department through a government order issued on June 2.
The two senior advocates will represent the Government of Tamil Nadu before the Supreme Court until regular Law Officers are selected and appointed under the rules.
The State has also appointed five Advocates-on-Record to represent Tamil Nadu before the Supreme Court. They are Rupali Francesca Samuel, B Karunakaran, Vrinda Bhandari, Jayasree Narasimhan and Kanika Kalaiyarasan.
The changes to Tamil Nadu's panel of lawyers in the Supreme Court come pursuant to Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam coming to power in the State in May 2026.
