ALB SE Asia 2011 Law Awards Amarchand AZB and Talwar Thakore are the Winners

Amarchand & Mangaldas has been chosen as the ‘Indian Deal Firm of the Year’ for 2011 at ALB SE Asia 2011 Law Awards held on May 27, 2011 in Singapore.

Amarchand & Mangaldas has been chosen as the ‘Indian Deal Firm of the Year’ for 2011 at ALB SE Asia 2011 Law Awards held on May 27, 2011 in Singapore.

Amarchand & Mangaldas has also been awarded the ‘Debt Market Deal of the Year’ at ALB SE Asia Awards. The award was won on the ‘ICICI Bank $ 1 billion Bond Offering’ deal. Amarchand won this award along with International firms, Clifford Chance; Davis Polk & Wardwell; Latham & Watkins.

AZB & Partners has been awarded for two deals. AZB won the award for ‘Asset Finance Deal of the Year’ for advising on ‘Bharti-Zain Acquisition Financing’ deal.  AZB acted as Bharti’s Indian advisors.

AZB has also been awarded ‘SE Asia M&A Deal of the Year’ for ‘BP Acquisition of Oil and Gas Block in India’ deal. AZB & Partners advised Reliance on Indian legal issues.

Talwar Thakore & Associates also won the award for ‘SE Asia M&A Deal of the Year’ along with AZB & Partners. Talwar Thakore advised BP on the Indian leg of the transaction. The other International firms in the deal that won the award are Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Vinson & Elkins.

Allen & Gledhill; Drew & Napier; Kadir, Andri & Partners; Linklaters; Rajah & Tann; Shook Lin & Bok; Stamford Law Corporation; WongPartnership won the award for ‘Singapore M&A Deal of the Year’. The award was won on the ‘Khazanah/Fortis competing Takeover Offer for Parkway’.

Fortis got out of the race for Parkway Holdings by agreeing to sell their 25 percent stake to Khazanah for a premium over the price they had bought it for to make nearly $85 million. Fortis was advised by Stamford Law and Rajah & Tann. AZB & Partners was also involved in Fortis Healthcare’s acquisition in Parkway Holdings during the first round.

Clifford Chance won the ‘International Deal Firm of the Year’ Award.

Recently, Amarchand & Mangaldas was chosen as the National Law Firm of the Year for 2011 at the second Chambers Asia-Pacific Law Firm Awards in Hong Kong.
