Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary has moved the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of social media videos that allegedly feature him in a phone conversation with a woman containing ‘sexual undertones’ [Surinder Kumar Choudhary v. Google LLC -India Liaison Office and Ors].

Justice Amit Bansal heard the matter briefly today and directed social media intermediaries Google and Meta to provide Choudhary's counsel with the details of the Facebook pages and YouTube channels uploading the content.

Choudhary has been ordered to implead the uploaders as parties to his suit.

The Court also noted that in his defamation suit, Choudhary did not provide the transcript or the allegedly defamatory videos. It asked him to provide the content as well and said that it will hear his plea for an interim injunction on January 13.

"You file a pen drive containing the video," the Court said.

Justice Amit Bansal

Choudhary is a member of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC).

In the 2024 elections, he won the Nowshera assembly seat, defeating the then-J&K BJP president. On October 16, 2024 was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Union Territory.
