NLSIU rape victim leaves law school; Trial of six accused commences in Bangalore

The trial of six of the accused in the gang-rape of a NLSIU student, has commenced before the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bangalore presided by Judge KB Sangannanaar.

Another accused has been absconding while the trial of the eighth accused, a juvenile, has commenced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

A report published in the New Indian Express, states that the Public Prosecutor SV Bhattaru informed the court that,

The victim has discontinued her law studies following the incident, as she was very depressed and has gone back to her country.

The incident, which took place in October last year, had led to a series of discussions and protests, including a sit-down at Town Hall in Bangalore by NLSIU students.
