JGLS has joined hands with IDFC to develop courses and research projects on Indian Infrastructure Sector

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) of O.P. Jindal Global University and the Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited (IDFC) through IDFC Foundation have signed an MOU for the development of courses, workshops, and joint research projects relating to Indian infrastructure sector. This program will be part of the Michigan-Jindal Centre for Global Corporate and Financial Law and Policy..This project will be led by Professors’ Vikramaditya Khanna and Charles Maddox, two of the most prominent academics studying Indian corporate and financial law. This is yet another initiative by JGLS to impart wide legal knowledge of infrastructure sector to its students..Professor C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University and Dean of Jindal Global Law School in the press release said, “This is another important milestone for the Michigan-Jindal Global Corporate and Financial Law and Policy as it provides a unique avenue for teaching, research, training and capacity building initiatives for the study of infrastructure law and policy combining the academic rigour of a global university and the practice exposure and experience of a corporation richly benefitting the faculty and students of Jindal”..Dr. Rajeev Uberoi, General Counsel, Ground Head, Legal & Compliance, IDFC said “IDFC’s endeavour is to be a leading knowledge source for the infrastructure sector, thru participation is policy and law. We are happy to utilize our practical experience in Project Finance, Private equity, M & A, PPP and regulation to help address complicated legal issues involved in the infrastructure field. We look forward to collaborate with Jindal Global Law School of O.P. Jindal Global University to run an initiative of global standards”..IDFC will help to develop curriculum and lend teaching expertise for an intensive course on infrastructure development and project finance being held at JGLS. This initiative will eventually also lead to the development of a series of courses and executive workshops designed to help educate people both here in India and abroad on how to contribute to the construction of India’s infrastructural backbone..JGLS and the University of Michigan Law School had inaugurated their Joint Centre on Global Corporate & Financial Law and Policy with Justice A.K. Ganguly of the Supreme Court of India in February 2011.
