Justice Kurian Joseph, one of the four judges who held the unprecedented press conference in January this year, has said that Chief Justices of High Courts must seek the assistance of other Senior judges in the High Court when it comes to case management.
“The Chief Justice though he is the master of roster – invariably the Chief Justice of High Court is from outside – must seek the assistance of senior judges in the court who are well aware of the expertise and exposure of bother and sister judges in the High Court.”
Justice Joseph was delivering the Introductory Address at a conference on National Initiative to Reduce Pendency and Delay in Judicial System.
Justice Joseph also said that the Central government should consider raising the retirement age of judges to 70 years and both High Court and Supreme Court judges should have the same age of retirement.
He also batted for time-bound clearance of the recommendations made by the Collegium.
The conference which is being held by the Supreme Court in collaboration with the Indian Law Institute is progressing at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri.
