CLAT 2013 Update: CLAT Core Committee allows LL.M. applicants to re-submit preference list; NUALS reduces intake from 120 to 80

At a meeting held yesterday in Raipur, the CLAT Core Committee has decided to allow prospective LL.M. students to re-submit their preference list. Given the recent introduction of the one-year LL.M. programme by a number of law schools, the Core Committee has allowed LL.M. applicants to submit their preferences online by June 4, 2013..As per the notice available on the CLAT website, the Core Committee has decided that,.The candidates who have appeared in CLAT-2013 for admission to the LL. M. program are therefore instructed to take a look at the LL. M. program and specializations offered by various NLUs and submit their preferences online latest by 12:00 mid night of 4th June 2013..As per another notice available on the website, a total of 416 seats are available for various LL.M. programmes at twelve of the fourteen CLAT law schools. Of the remaining two law schools, CNLU Patna does not offer an LL.M. degree while NUSRL, Ranchi has its own entrance examination for the masters programme; NUSRL is also offering a 3-year Integrated PhD-LLM programme..Out of the 416 seats available, 42 will be for the two-year programme and the remaining will be for the one-year degree. Both NLSIU, Bangalore and NALSAR, Hyderabad are offering 50 seats each, with NLSIU offering two specializations and NALSAR six. Lucknow based RMLNLU, meanwhile, is offering 11 specializations. The complete list can be viewed be at the end of this article..With respect to the undergraduate BA LL.B course, NUALS has announced that it will not be taking in 120 students as mentioned in its brochure; instead the Kochi based University will be accepting 80 students. As per the notice dated May 28, 2013, the University took the decision since it was unable to “provide the necessary facilities” required for the additional students. The notice states that,
