Collegium recommends four appointments for Andhra Pradesh HC, three for Telangana HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended four lawyers for appointment as judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and three lawyers for appointment to the Telangana High Court.

For the Andhra Pradesh High Court, R Raghunandan Rao, Battu Devanand, D Ramesh and N Jayasurya are the recommendees. T Vinod Kumar, A Abhishek Reddy and K Lakshman have been recommended for appointment to the Telangana High Court.

The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad had recommended all seven names for elevation in October last year, before the Telangana High Court came into existence.

The Collegium notes in its resolution that certain complaints received against the recommendees lacked substance. After perusing the material on record and taking into consideration the views of the Department of Justice, the Collegium has decided to recommend their elevations to the two high courts.

Should the Centre process the recommendation, the Andhra Pradesh High Court will have a total of 17 judges and 20 vacancies. The Telangana High Court’s strength will increase to 14 judges with 10 vacancies.
