The Madhya Pradesh Government has increased the corpus of the fund to provide financial assistance to advocates to Rs 2 crore.

The information to this effect has been provided by State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh.

The decision to allocate the money was taken pursuant a meeting of the stakeholders held under the Madhya Pradesh Advocates Welfare Act, through the mode of video conferencing. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

The notice informs that earlier, a sum of Rs 1 crore was at the disposal of the State Bar Council, pursuant to which a maximum sum of Rs 5,000 could be given to a needy advocate.

Keeping in view the demand by stakeholders to increase the fund at their disposal in order to extend assistance to more advocates, the Chief Minister decided to double the sum to Rs 2 crore.

The process to extend assistance in furtherance of the newly granted fund shall begin as soon as the same is published in the official gazette, it is informed.
