A Delhi court has allowed Umar Khalid, who is currently in custody in the larger conspiracy case of Delhi riots, to have two e-mulakats (video calls) with his family every week .In an order passed on July 13, Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai said that Khalid had been availing the arrangement for the past six years without violating Delhi Prisons Rule.“Since the applicant [Khalid] has been using two e-mulakats in a week for last six years and has not violated any rule of the Delhi Prisons Rule, the applicant is allowed to have two e-mulakats per week for the purpose of talking to his mother and other family members,” the Court ordered. .Khalid has been in jail for the past six years in relation to the larger conspiracy case linked to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots. It was submitted on behalf of Khalid that he was provided with the facility for the past six years. However, all of a sudden since May 2026 his two e-mulakats were curtailed to one e-mulakat.
