Yesterday, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed his response to the application moved by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley praying to maintain order during his cross examination in the civil defamation case..Jaitley’s application had stated that numerous irrelevant and scandalous questions have been asked and that the intention of the defendants is to delay the conclusion of recording of evidence by posing these questions..The reply, filed through Advocate Anupam Shrivastava, denied the averments made by Jaitley in the aforesaid application. It states,.“The counsel on record had categorically stated before the Registrar that no instructions were given by the defendant to use objectionable words as used by the learned Senior Counsel (Ram Jethmalani)….…It is further denied that the questions are clearly designed to insult or annoy the Plaintiff.” .The reply also states that the present suit is moving at a pace faster than most of the suits pending on the original side of the High Court.. “The perusal of the order sheet would reveal that the defendants have never delayed the proceedings in the present suit.”.Moreover, it states that Jaitley is twisting the facts to make grounds for the application. However, the application is not maintainable as the proceedings before the Joint Registrar are delegated by the Original Side Rules of the court, therefore no cause of action can arise for any intercession by the delegator (Court)..The matter will be next heard on July 26..Read Kejriwal’s reply:.Image taken from here.
