The Karnataka High Court recently warned that it would impose Rs 25,000 costs on advocates who continue to file COVID-19 related petitions without reading the orders of the Court. ."There are so many petitions related to COVID-19. Members of the Bar don't read the orders of the Court. It leads to multiplicity of petitions...We will do one thing now, we will ask you to deposit Rs 25,000 to the CM cares Fund for COVID-19 relief," the Bench of Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice Aravind Kumar warned..The Court made this observation while hearing a petition moved by Advocate Ramesh Naik seeking provision of food kits at the doorsteps of all Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders amid the pandemic..Naik sought to intervene in the suo motu case registered by the Court in view of the COVID-19 situation in the State. .When the vacation bench headed by CJ Oka sat for regular hearing on Thursday morning, it found that a number of COVID-19 related petitions were listed.The Court urged all the Advocates to go through its orders before filing petitions, stating,"These days, everyone wants to file a petition related to COVID....".In the afternoon session, during the hearing of the suo motu matter, the Court noted that many advocates are making multiple suggestions to combat the spread of the virus. Amicus Curiae Vikram Huilgol submitted,"Many advocates are making suggestions now...some valid, some are not. Let them forward it to me, I will collate it.
