Justice Sanjay Kishen Kaul to speak at Mediation Workshop hosted by Jammu & Kashmir HC this weekend

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir is organizing a three-day state-level intensive mediation workshop from October 5-7, 2018, under the aegis of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and the Mediation Committee comprising of Justices Tashi Rabstan and MK Hanjura. The event is being held by in collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir..The conference also marks the launch of the new logo of the Mediation Centre of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court – ‘Masalihat’, which is an Urdu word loosely translating to ‘conciliation’..The dignitaries expected to attend the event include Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who will be delivering the key-note address tomorrow..Various Judges of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court including Justices Alok Aradhe, Ali Mohd Magrey, Tashi Rabstan, MK Hanjura Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Sanjeev Kumar, Sindhu Sharma and Rashid Ali Dar will be chairing sessions. Justice Hima Kohli, senior Judge of the Delhi High Court and Chairperson of the Delhi District Courts Mediation Committee will also be chairing sessions..Resources persons include lawyers such as JP Sengh, Sudhanshu Batra, Sadhana Ramachandran, Veena Ralli, Amita Sahgal and Anuj Aggarwal. Also attending the event are judges, Dharmesh Sharma, Shailender Kaur and Dinesh Kumar Sharma..Aloysius Goh, Chief Executive Office of the Singapore International Mediation Centre, a mediator of international repute, will also be an expert resource person..The participants, comprising state-Judicial officers and lawyers will be trained in the workshop encompassing fourteen intensive working sessions on various aspects which would include, overview of dispute resolution process, bargaining, floor demonstration, communication, revisiting impasse, settlement writing, ethics and confidentiality, assisted negotiations, nuances of commercial matters, art of settlement writing, mediators approach in matrimonial matters and other allied issues in the field..By this initiative, Chief Justice Mittal aims to institutionalize the system of mediation in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and create a permanent mechanism to improve justice for all..Chief Justice Gita Mittal was also integral in setting up ‘SAMADHAN’, the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre. it is proposed that a permanent mediation centre in Jammu and Kashmir also be modeled along the lines of the Delhi centre..The upcoming three-day conference will be held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar, overlooking the Dal Lake..Read the programme brochure:
