According to PTI, the Central government is planning to file a transfer petition in the Supreme Court to transfer the cases filed in three High Courts pertaining to levy of service tax on senior advocates to the Supreme Court..The government had imposed 14 percent service tax on senior advocates from the current financial year. The same was stayed by the High courts of Delhi, Gujarat and Calcutta..The Centre is now planning to get all these cases transferred to the Supreme court and get the stay vacated. The report also states that Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi will be representing the Centre in Supreme Court.
