Know your Campus Ambassador: Jayesh Mehta, HPNLU

Bar & Bench

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Jayesh Mehta, a third-year law student at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University , Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Why did you choose to study law?

This is the first question asked by everybody as I belong to a business family but I choose this field because I like law. As far I know the most intelligent and powerful people who have changed the world are all lawyers.

I want also want to change the world. I choose to study law to fight cases for the needy people of society and try to make at least a small change in society.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

I am following bar & bench from even before coming into the law field and it is one of the biggest and most prestigious media house of the country in legal affairs.

It is a honour for me to work with the bar & bench and as being a campus ambassador, it is a best way to be connected with the bar & bench.

What are your plans after completing law?

After completing my graduation, I will go for masters and then I will practice in the district court or I will join NGO for any firm which mostly work in the pro-bono space.
