Four Lawyers appointed as Patna High Court Judges [Read Notification]

Anjani Kumar Sharan, Anil Kumar Sinha, Prabhat Kumar Singh and Partha Sarthy appointed to Patna High Court

The Central Government has cleared the appointment of four lawyers as judges of the Patna High Court.

Pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium resolution passed on April 1, the Government has appointed the following advocates as judges of the High Court.

  1. Anjani Kumar Sharan
  2. Anil Kumar Sinha
  3. Prabhat Kumar Singh
  4. Partha Sarthy

The notification issued to this effect on Monday states,

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (1) Anjani Kumar Sharan, (ii) Anil Kumar Sinha, (iii) Prabhat Kumar Singh, and (iv) Partha Sarthy, to be Judges of the Patna High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”

With their appointment, the working strength of the High Court rises to 31 against a sanctioned strength of 53 judges.
