A Thane lawyer, Aditya Mishra, has approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking intervention to evacuate stranded Indians out of Afghanistan.

Mishra sought NHRC's urgent intervention after the recent takeover of majority regions of Afghanistan by the Taliban.

"Indians at Afghanistan are struggling hard for their life with recent takeover of the government of Afghanistan by the Talibanis," the petition stated.

He added that while he was sure of the efforts being taken by the Indian government for repatriation of the Indians stranded in Afghanistan, the NHRC being the "apex custodian of human rights" ought to intervene to install confidence among masses in the highest interest of justice.

The NHRC will be hearing the petition shortly.
