Bar & Bench

The Central Government has cleared the appointment of three lawyers as judges of the Telangana High Court.

A notification issued on August 23 intimates the appointment of T Vinod Kumar, A Abhishek Reddy and K Lakshman as judges of the High Court. It states,

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar, (ii) Annireddy Abhishek Reddy, and (iii) Kunuri Lakshman, to be judges of the Telangana High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

The appointment has been made pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation issued in July this year.

The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad had recommended their names for elevation in October last year, before the Telangana High Court came into existence.

With their appointment, the working strength of the High Court has risen to 14 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 24 judges.
