CAN Foundation announces 3rd Edition of Project Eklavya to support undergrads in NLUs

The Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities (CAN) Foundation has invited applications for the third edition of one of its flagship projects, Project Eklavya.

Project Eklavya seeks to lift and impact deserving, but underprivileged, undergraduate law students by providing them with an annual scholarship that aids in their education at premier National Law Universities (NLUs).

In the academic session 2020-21, under the 2nd edition of the Project, 30 students were given scholarships, amounting to Rs. 25 Lakhs approximately.

With the same drive this year as well, the CAN Foundation is all set to go ahead with the third edition of Project Eklavya for the academic year 2021-22.

The Selection Procedure for Project Eklavya has been meticulously and diligently designed, keeping in mind the authenticity as well as the significance of the Project.

There will be a 2-tier process, wherein the applications shall undergo a strict scrutiny by two Committees comprising of eminent legal professionals.

The students will further be shortlisted by a carefully nominated Tier-1 Scrutiny Committee, post which the applications would be carefully verified and examined by a 3-Membered High-Powered Panel.

The High-Powered Selection Committee for Eklavya 2021 is headed by Justice Gita Mittal (Former Chief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir High Court) as the Chairperson and also consists of Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan and Senior Advocate Siddharth Bhatnagar as its members.

The Tier-1 Scrutiny Committee shall comprise of eminent young faces of the legal fraternity having a minimum standing of ten years at the Bar.

It consists of Pragati Neekhra (AOR, Supreme Court), Amalpushp Shroti (AOR, Supreme Court), Divyakant Lahoti (AOR, Supreme Court), Mrigank Prabhakar (AOR, Supreme Court), Suhasini Sen (Advocate, Supreme Court), Tariq Khan (Principal Associate, Advani & Co.).

Eligibility Criteria

For applying under Project Eklavya, the Student must:

1) Be in the 2nd Year or above.

2) Be enrolled in any undergraduate degree of any NLU of the Country.

3) Must have secured a minimum of 65% aggregate/average marks in the last three semesters (for the last two semesters for students currently in their 2nd Year).

4) Have an Annual Cumulative Family Income (of father, mother, unmarried brother or sister) that does not exceed Rs. 8,00,000 per year, including the current financial year.
