About the CCL

The Centre for Constitutional Law was established in the year 2020 and ever since then the Centre has been an active participant in the University’s ecosystem. The Centre for Constitutional Law is a student-run organization, which seeks to work towards sparking an interest in the legal fraternity about the crucial role of constitutional law.

About the Lecture

Amendments to Constitution throughout the world have been a divisive issue in recent years. There are numerous reasons for this, including whether governments are abusing the rules of constitutional amendment, testing the limits of legal constraint, undermining democratic governance norms, and flouting the constitution as written to create entirely a new constitution through the means of amendment. It is also important to consider if the amendment has influenced the performance and durability of constitutions.

However, it is also true that amendments are necessary since, as we all know, the Constitution is a living document that must change with the passage of time. Thus, in order to provide in-depth information and understanding of the subject the Centre for Constitutional Law, DNLU is organizing this lecture to be delivered by Prof. Richard Albert, Professor of Government, and Director of Constitutional Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

The discussion is scheduled from 9:30 AM IST onwards on 7 February 2022, and to participate in the same, please register through the below link.
