This prestigious competition was co-hosted by Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration and NILS on 5 February 2022. Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court competition is the international student competition focusing on investment protection.

This particular Moot Court serves as a platform for students who want to compete on an international level and have a passion for investment protection. Teams present their arguments orally before tribunals of arbitration composed of investment treaty specialists.

The Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court is unique in that it combines the law of investment protection, one of the most modern and fastest developing areas of international law, with the history of international law and of international trade.

In the 14th Edition of the Competition, the moot problem was based on the Spanish Bankruptcy Case of 1556, when the Spanish Kingdom was undergoing the biggest inflation seen in its history and was defaulting on every loan the Crown had taken, putting the investment market of Continental Europe under great strain.
