Yesterday, Luthra & Luthra promoted two of its Managing Associates, Amit Shetye and Damini Bhalla to Partnership. Along with the Partner promotions, eight Senior Associates were promoted to Managing Associates. He was made Managing Associate, along with 8 others, in August last year..Damini Bhalla, in the firm’s Delhi office, is a graduate of NALSAR, Hyderabad (Class of ‘05) and joined the firm upon graduation. In 2007, she moved to Clifford Chance before eventually returning to Delhi to rejoin Luthra. She was one of eight Luthra lawyers to return to the firm after working outside the country. In August 2011, she was made Managing Associate, along with ten others..The firm also promoted eight of its Senior Associates to Managing Associates. The newly promoted Managing Associates include Anshul Jain, Kaushik Laik, Khushi Mishra, Nirupam Lodha, Vaibhav Suri, Vishal Yaduvanshi, Atul Ninawat and Gunjan Mishra..The firm awarded the ‘Managing Partner’s Solitaire Award’ to Mumbai Partner Bikash Jhawar while the Intellectual Property team led by Gayatri Roy got the ‘Team of the Year’ award..Restructuring.Speaking to Bar & Bench, Mohit Saraf said, “We have an executive committee for the corporate practice of the firm which takes policy decisions with respect to growth and strategy for all three offices.”.On the increase in numbers, Saraf said, “The world is getting very complicated. The clients require a lot of attention and detailing. I think it was felt that 3-member committee was not sufficient to get involved in all issues of detail at every level. So we thought it would be good to expand the committee so that a lot of responsibilities can be shared.”.“This is part of the restructuring exercise at the firm as it is becoming big.
