The Supreme Court today issued notice to the National Investigating Agency (NIA) and the State of Maharashtra in a plea filed by Lt. Colonel Shrikant Purohit..A Bench of Justices RK Agrawal and AM Sapre issued notice while hearing the plea..Purohit filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to quash the charges framed against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), in relation to the Malegaon blast case..The Bombay High Court and the Special MCOCA Court before that, had rejected his petition to quash the charges against him..Purohit, along with six others including Sadhvi Pragya, faced trial under the UAPA in relation to the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
