The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday recommended the elevation of seven judicial officers as judges of the Patna High Court. .In a statement uploaded on Friday, the top court listed the names of the following judicial officers in this regard:1. Shailendra Singh2. Arun Kumar Jha3. Jitendra Kumar4. Alok Kumar Pandey5. Sunil Dutta Mishra6. Chandra Prakash Singh7. Chandra Shekhar Jha.The Patna High Court is currently functioning with a little over 50 per cent of its sanctioned strength of 53 judges. It has a working strength of 27 with 26 vacancies.The vacancies include those of 13 permanent judges and 13 additional judges. There are currently no additional judges at the High Court.Justices Rajan Gupta and Ashwani Kumar Singh will retire later this year..The Central government had on March 24 notified the appointment of two lawyers - Advocates Rajiv Roy and Harish Kumar - as judges of the High Court.The Supreme Court Collegium had in February recommended Kumar for elevation. It also reiterated two names after the Union Law Ministry returned the files of the 8 names it had recommended in September.
