The Central government has appealed against the decision of the Uttarakhand High Court striking down President’s rule in the State..The appeal was filed today morning after which Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter at 10.30 am before a Bench presided by Justice Dipak Misra..Rohatgi said that a copy of the order is still not available, asking how the order of the court can be implemented without the same. The Attorney General also said that he is seeking a stay of the order and wants the case to be listed today..However, Justice Misra asked the AG to go to the court’s registry for listing the case. It is understood that the Centre’s lawyers have now rushed to the Registry in a bid to get the matter listed today..The absence of Chief Justice TS Thakur seems to have caused additional inconvenience to the Centre. The Chief Justice and two of the Supreme Court’s senior judges are not sitting today owing to Chief Justices’ conference..Meanwhile. a copy of the Centre’s petition shows that the Centre has raised a number of grounds of challenge centring around the scope of judicial review with respect to Article 356 of the Constitution.
