

The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Saturday declared the results of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XXI, recording an overall pass percentage of 65.92 per cent.
The exam was conducted on June 7, 2026, across 292 examination centres in 60 cities. A total of 1,75,701 candidates appeared - 1,10,909 men, 64,784 women and 8 transgender candidates.
The result was to be calculated out of 100 marks. Qualifying cut-offs had originally been set at 45 for general category candidates and 40 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
However, a press release said that BCI's monitoring committee, after going through the question paper and result summary, unanimously agreed to lower the qualifying score by 3 marks. Effectively, the cut-off for general category candidates was 42 and for SC/ST/PwD candidates, it was 37.
42,757 of the 64,784 women who appeared qualified, along with 73,045 of the 1,10,909 men and 3 of the 8 transgender candidates.
59,709 of the 87,145 candidates in the general category qualified, of which 344 were Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. Among Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates, 36,210 of 58,804 qualified; among Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 16,462 of 24,127 qualified; and among Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, 3,424 of 5,625 qualified.
Among individual State Bar Councils, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of candidates, with 13,610 men and 3,178 women appearing.
The BCI has also announced the schedule for AIBE-XXII to be held on November 29, 2026. Online registration will open on August 19 and close on October 27, with the last date for online payment set at October 28 and for corrections in the registration form at October 30. Admit cards will go live on November 14 and results are tentatively expected between January 7 and 10, 2027.
