CJAR at DNLU announces two-day single credit course and international conference on new criminal laws

The Centre for Criminal Justice Administration and Research (CJAR) at Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, in collaboration with Agnel School of Law, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, has announced a two-day single credit course on new criminal laws.

The course will be conducted between October 9 and 10, 2026, followed by an international conference on October 11.

The course, which will be conducted in person at DNLU, is designed to provide an intensive and comprehensive exploration of the paradigm shift in India’s criminal justice system following the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.

The course seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and the practical application of the new criminal laws. Registration will remain open until September 30.

The conference, to be conducted in hybrid mode, is titled “Transforming Criminal Justice in India: Implementation of the New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Justice.”

The conference comes against the backdrop of significant changes in India’s criminal justice framework and the increasing role of technology in policing, investigation, prosecution and adjudication. The conference will examine the implementation of the new criminal laws alongside emerging developments involving Artificial Intelligence, digital technologies, electronic evidence, forensic science and cybersecurity.

The conference invites participation from academicians, advocates, legal professionals, research scholars and students and has also issued a call for original and unpublished research papers. Abstract submissions are open until 15 September 2026, with notification of acceptance scheduled for 18 September 2026. Full papers may be submitted until 2 October 2026, while registration for the conference will remain open until 30 September 2026.

The three day academic programme is expected to provide a significant platform for examining the practical and legal implications of India’s new criminal laws while also exploring how emerging technologies are reshaping the administration of criminal justice.
