
Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) is set to host the 48th Annual Conference on Oceans Law and Policy (COLP), which is scheduled for September 9 - 11, 2025, in New Delhi, India.
The Annual Conference on Oceans Law and Policy (COLP) is a global forum that brings together leading experts, policymakers, academics, and practitioners.
The 48th edition, themed “Developing World Approaches to Ocean Governance: Perspectives from the Indian Ocean Rim”, will focus on contemporary challenges and innovative solutions in ocean governance, particularly from the perspective of the developing world.
This year's conference is being hosted by Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) in collaboration with various institutions including:

World Maritime University - Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute (WMU - GOI),
Ankarar National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM),
Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA),
Centre for Climate Change Law and Governance (CLIMA) at the University of Copenhagen,
Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), IMO-International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI),
UiT Norwegian Centre for the Law of the Sea (NCLOS),

National Maritime Foundation (NMF).
For decades, the COLP series has played a vital role in advancing dialogue on maritime law and policy. This year’s conference, supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, promises to contribute significant insights into strengthening international cooperation and governance in the Indian Ocean region.
