Prof VP Tiwari has assumed charge as Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur, succeeding the University's Founding VC, Prof (Dr) Vijender Kumar.

Associated with MNLU Nagpur since its inception in 2016 as a founding faculty member, Prof Tiwari has served on the Executive Council, the Academic Council and the Research Committee. He has also held key roles, including Convenor of the Moot Court, Internship, Curriculum Development, Examination and Student Grievance Redressal Committees, as well as Proctor and Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

On assuming charge, Prof Tiwari stated that his priority would be to strengthen academic excellence rooted in character, discipline and diligence. He emphasised that a university should nurture not only accomplished professionals but also humane, responsible and patriotic citizens committed to justice, constitutional values and service to society.

He resolved to foster an environment of intellectual rigour, integrity, compassion and responsibility, while prioritising student welfare, quality legal education, impactful research, innovation, good governance and national and international collaborations.
