Bomb threat at GNLU turns out to be a hoax

An email from an unidentified person threatened that bombs had been placed in the campus.

Staff of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar received two bomb threats on Sunday evening and Monday.

As of Tuesday, a report states that the Infocity Police, Gandhinagar has registered an FIR regarding the two hoax bomb threats under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation.

An email from an unidentified person was received by various staff, faculty and the Registrar. It threatened that bombs had been placed in various parts of the campus. A subsequent email on Monday threatened the same.

The University administration, local police and a bomb squad promptly conducted search operations within the campus. As per a report, a senior police officer in Gandhinagar said that no explosives were found on campus after a sweep was conducted with the help of a dog squad, local crime branch, bomb squad, and Infocity police. They are now trying to trace the source of the email.
