Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur, is organising a two-day international conference on 'Law, Rights & Indigenous Futures: Rethinking Tribal Justice in a Globalised World' to be held from March 28-29, 2026 virtually.

The conference is being organised by the Centre for Study of Law & Indigenous People under the aegis of the School of Law & Humanities of the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur.

The objective of this conference is to build interdisciplinary dialogue on indigenous and tribal justice amid contemporary challenges such as displacement, ecological loss, and cultural erasure.

The key themes include customary law and constitutional justice, human rights and public policy, culture and identity, climate justice, development-induced displacement, and comparative Indigenous struggles across global contexts.

A key focus is to centre youth perspectives, especially those of Indigenous and first-generation scholars, and to create inclusive academic spaces.

The conference seeks participation from students, scholars, researchers, academicians, legal practitioners, policy experts, community leaders, activists, and media professionals.

In addition to traditional research papers, the conference welcomes policy briefs, community case studies, and ethnographic narratives, recognising diverse forms of knowledge production.

Selected papers may be considered for publication in an edited book with an ISBN after a peer-review process.
