Next year’s edition of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2018) will be conducted on May 13, 2018, from 3 to 5 pm.

As per the notification published today, online application for the exam will open on January 1. The last date for application is March 31.

The 2018 edition of the exam, conducted by National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) Kochi, will be held for admission to five-year LL.B (undergraduate) and LL.M (postgraduate) courses at eighteen National Law Universities. The scores for CLAT 2018, as has been the case with earlier editions, will also be used by other universities in their admission process.

It is pertinent to note that no age limit has been prescribed for next year’s exam, after previous editions mandated the same. The challenge to the age limit is currently pending in the Supreme Court.

This year’s exam, conducted by CNLU Patna, had managed to steer clear of controversy for the most part, barring a few mistakes in the answer key. The 2016 exam, conducted by RGNUL Patiala, went on quite smoothly, in stark contrast to previous editions.
