Gujarat National Law University institutes Gold Medal for Environmental Law in the name of Sudhir Mishra

The “Sudhir Mishra Gold Medal for Excellence in Environmental Law” will be awarded annually to the student who secures the highest grades/ marks in the Environmental Law course.

On October 19, 2023, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar inaugurated an Eco-Club at the Centre for Environment, Sustainability and Climate Justice. The event saw the inaugural address by the award-winning Environmental lawyer, Sudhir Mishra, the Founder and Managing Partner of Trust Legal.

Gujarat National Law University has a robust and active Environmental Justice Centre which has created an unique identity under the mentorship and guidance of Prof (Dr.) S Shanthakumar, Director of the Law School.

Dr. Shanthakumar is an Environmentalist and a champion of environmental law who has taken several initiatives for the advancement and study of environmental law in the Gujarat National Law University.

On this momentous occasion of the inauguration of the Eco-Club at the law school, Prof (Dr.) S Shanthakumar and Sudhir Mishra, jointly announced the institution of a gold medal, the “Sudhir Mishra Gold Medal for Excellence in Environmental Law”, to be awarded annually to the student who secures the highest grades/ marks in Environmental Law course.

The thought is to encourage students in the study, development and contribution towards environmental justice, climate reversal and promotion of sustainable practices.

Sudhir Mishra expressed his gratitude to the University  for the institution of a gold medal in his name and in presence of Prof (Dr.) S Shanthakumar, Director of GNLU and the law students reaffirmed his commitment to the field of environmental advocacy and lawyering.

Last year, Sudhir Mishra was conferred the Guardians of Sustainability Award 2022 at the House of Lords. Soon after this, he was also made the recipient of the Environment Lawyer of the Year Award 2022 at the House of Lords
