Happily ever after? Disney asks to remove internship review, backs off

Aditya AK

Earlier this week, a law student was threatened with legal action by Walt Disney India, after she posted an internship review on the legal website Lawctopus.

The student, Soumya Shrivastava, had interned at Disney India’s office in Mumbai last year, after which she had posted a generally favourable review of her experience on the website. In fact, under ‘Bad Things’, she wrote, “Nothing I can think of right now”.

Despite the review containing nothing apparently offensive against the company, the student was contacted and told to take down her post, lest she face legal consequences. She then contacted Lawctopus Founder and CEO Tanuj Kalia, who then posted the same on social media.

However, Kalia told Bar & Bench that Disney has chosen not to pursue the issue. The matter seems to be put to bed, for now at least. Disney India was not available for comment at the time of publication of this story.
