Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Mumbai is hosting a Fireside Chat with Citi’s Technology, Operations & Privacy (TOP) Legal team, titled “Artificial Intelligence & the Future of Banking: Opportunities, Risks & Regulatory Frontiers”.
The session, to be held on October 23, will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping financial services and what it means for the legal profession. The event is being organised by the Internship and Placement Cell of the University, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Artificial intelligence is changing how banks and financial institutions work, from credit assessment, fraud detection and risk management to compliance, customer service and cybersecurity. These changes raise difficult legal questions on data protection, accountability, technology contracting, intellectual property and the pace of regulation.
The primary aim of the Fireside Chat is to bring senior in-house counsel from Citi into conversation with the University’s students on these developments. The speakers will discuss how in-house legal teams in a global bank deal with these issues day to day, including how lawyers advise business and technology teams on AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity and procurement and what this means for students aiming for in-house roles in banking and technology. The session will be moderated by Dr Garima Pal, Assistant Professor of Law, MNLU Mumbai.
The Fireside Chat will feature three senior members of Citi’s Technology, Operations & Privacy Legal team.
1. Adam Marchuck: Adam Marchuck is Managing Director & General Counsel, Technology, Operations, IP & Privacy, at Citi. He leads the legal team advising Citi’s technology and operations stakeholders on procurement and sourcing, cybersecurity, intellectual property and privacy, and on the bank’s approach to artificial Intelligence.
2. Nicholas Fernandez: Nicholas Fernandez is Director and Head, Asia Clusters, International Technology, Operations & Privacy Legal, at Citi.
