UILS Panjab University wins NLS-SAM Fintech Moot Court Competition 2025

36 teams participated in the second edition of the moot.

A team from University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh has won the 2nd National Law School - Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co Fintech Moot Court Competition, 2025.

The team comprised Arjun Sagar, Ayush Sagar Sharma and Chahat Jain.

The runner-up team from Nirma University comprised Amitansh Kumar, Divyanshi Yadav and Vanshika Mathur. Amitansh Kumar also won Best Speaker (Finals).

The Best Memorial award for both petitioners and respondents sides was awarded to Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. Sunidhi Hegde from School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University) won Best Speaker, Prelims.

This year's moot problem dealt with legal and regulatory challenges arising from online gaming platforms. The problem shadowed the recently passed Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 with issues of constitutionality of blanket restrictions, payment directives on operation of gaming platforms, platform obligations to users and the limits on speech rights of digital creators.

The moot finals were judged by Senior Advocates Siddharth Agarwal, Shyel Trehan and Raghenth Basant.
