WBNUJS wins CNLU-DPIIT-IPR National Moot

The moot witnessed participation from 56 teams.

A team from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences has won the 1st Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) - Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Moot Court Competition, 2026.

The team comprised Bhumika, Tejasvi Koul and Hima Sebastian.

The team from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore were the runners-up. The team comprised Madhav Sharma, Ayush Soni and Niyati. Madhav Sharma was also awarded as Best Speaker.

Diya Gohil of United World School of Law, Karnavati University won the Best Researcher award. The team from Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University won the Best Memorial award.

This year's moot problem revolved around issues of AI-generated works replicating a singer's voice and persona amounting to infringement of copyright, performer's rights, personality rights, and whether developers must disclose training datasets despite trade-secret protections.
