Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre to host 10th Annual International Arbitration Conclave

The Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre (NPAC) will be holding its 10th Annual International Arbitration Conclave on February 17, 2018 on the theme Strengthening Arbitration in India – Challenges and Opportunities.

Founded in 2005, the NPAC is the only Arbitration forum in South India to have been formally recognised by the Madras High Court. The Centre, which is modeled on the lines of International Arbitration Centres, aims at providing world class arbitration facilities by facilitiating both Ad hoc and Institutional Arbitration.

The conference, to be held at Shangri La’s Eros Hotel, New Delhi, aims at providing a platform to discuss the challenges faced by Arbitration in India and how to overcome them. The conference is open to all professionals interested in the field of Arbitration.

S Mahalingam. Former CFO of TCS and Director of the NPAC will be rendering the welcome address. Speakers expected to address the gathering at the programme’s inaugural session include Senior Advocates Arvind Datar, KK Venugopal, Fali S Nariman and NL Raja and Advocate Anirudh Krishnan. Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon of the Singapore Court will be delivering the keynote address.

The Conclave will feature panel discussions on a number of topics of contemporary interest. The panel discussion on Roadblocks to Arbitration – The International Perspective will be chaired by Dr Davinder Singh of the Singapore Supreme Court.

A Discussion on Controversial Issues in Domestic Arbitration, will be chaired by Pallavi Shroff of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. A Session titled Nuts & Bolts of the Arbitration Process will be chaired by YM Deosthalee of L&T Finance Holdings Ltd. Senior Advocate Pravin Parekh will chair a session on Specialised International Practice Areas.

Registration fees for the event differ depending on whether participants are domestic delegates, NPAC members, Students, International delegates, annual members of NPAC or International students. Law Firms and Corporate delegates get one free registration upon registration of 5 members.
