NLU Delhi launches Certificate Course on Anti- Doping Laws and Emerging Areas

The four-weekend online program is designed to bridge academic learning with real-world legal insights in sport.

Bar & Bench

The UNESCO Chair for Legal Dimensions of Clean Sport at National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) is offering a Certificate Course in Anti Doping Law and Emerging Areas - a four-weekend online program designed to bridge academic learning with real-world legal insights in sport.

Background and rationale

The brochure describes sport as operating at the intersection of public policy, commerce, and human rights, with athletes and sporting bodies governed by a complex mix of domestic law, international conventions, and sporting regulations. It argues that despite the growth of the sector, awareness of sports law frameworks remains limited among practitioners.

Furthermore, it identifies the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) as central institutions in the global anti-doping and sports integrity framework. It further states that sports professionals today must navigate issues including athlete contracts, intellectual property, broadcasting rights, dispute resolution before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), gender equality obligations, and the Sports (Development and Regulation) Act framework. On this basis, the brochure argues that a structured certificate programme covering these areas is “not merely desirable” but essential.
