NUJS team wins Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) 2020

A team from the National University of Juridical Science (NUJS), Kolkata consisting of Ashika Jain, Kaira Pinheiro, Anand Krishnan and Sahaj Mathur has emerged as the Winner in the Vienna chapter of the 27th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition.

The 4 member NUJS team also won the Eric E. Bergsten Award for Best team Orals and was the only Indian team secure a spot in the top 8 of the moot competition. The moot competition was conducted between the April 3 and 9, 2020.

This year, the in-person rounds of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot were cancelled and the same was held virtually, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

All the same, the competition witnessed a participation of 249 teams from all across the globe.

This is the second time that NUJS has won the moot, the first being in 2003.

Another team from NUJS comprising of Mehak Kumar, Shivani Choudhary, Rajat Pareek and Kashish Satra participated in the Hong Kong Chapter of the moot, also conducted virtually.
