The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru has released a set of protocols for the proctoring process, including malpractices that may invite different kinds of penal action during the conduct of its National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT).
The exam malpractices listed by NLSIU include
impersonation,
having inappropriate surroundings at the test location/ soliciting external help,
talking or making gestures,
window switch,
candidate's face not detected (i.e. when the candidate is not present in front of the system),
detection of multiple persons,
use of foreign devices,
wearing of headphones/earphones,
simultaneous login attempts from multiple devices etc.
It is intimated that the candidate will be given instructions regarding any eventualities of power cuts or internet failures on the test screen well in advance in a candidate manual.
"The assessment system used for the NLAT 2020 may permit the candidate to continue answering the question paper in events of internet failure; however, this is subject to the Proctor’s discretion, and subject to the candidate’s system re-connecting to the examination interface within the time and in the manner stipulated in the on-screen instructions and the Candidate Manual", the NLSIU instructions add.
Students are expected to respond promptly to any communications, messages, instructions and requests made during the NLAT's conduct.
NLSIU may cancel test scores if it is revealed that there was any act or omission which did not comply with the requirements for the test's integrity.
These protocols may be reviewed at any time prior to the examination at NLSIU's discretion. All registered candidates shall be informed of such revisions/ updates prior to the time of their examination.
