RGNUL wins 6th Symbiosis International Criminal Trial Advocacy competition

The team of Shawaiz Nisar, Wamic Wasim Nargal and Kartikaya Gautam representing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has emerged as Winners of the 6th Symbiosis International Criminal Trial Advocacy [SICTA], 2021 organised by Symbiosis Law School, Pune.

Wamic Wasim Nargal was adjudged as the Best Student Advocate of the finals as well as the Second-Best Student Advocate overall.

Additionally, the team won the Best Memorial award.

The competition saw the participation of top international and national teams who competed on the lines of the International Criminal Court, on a problem which dealt with the nuances of International Criminal Law.

The competition was inaugurated by Justice J. Chelameswar, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Justice Sandeep Mehta, Judge, High Court of Rajasthan was the Chief Guest in the valedictory ceremony and the finals were adjudged by an eminent panel of judges including Mr. Aniruddha Rajput, Member of the United Nations International Law Committee, Prof. TR Subramanya, Dean, School of Legal Studies, CMR University and Dr. Umesh Kadam, Former Regional Legal Advisor, International Committee of Red Cross.

The team said that the competition was an "absolutely enriching experience" which " helped us explore a myriad of uncharted dimensions around the substantive and procedural aspects of International Criminal Law."
