Trilegal co-founder Akshay Jaitly, who had retired from the partnership in 2020 to move to Paris, is rejoining the firm.

It is understood that the Trilegal partnership is in the process of voting to re-introduce Jaitly to the firm's partnership.

Akshay was instrumental in setting up the firm's Energy and Infrastructure practice.

On his decision to step down from Trilegal partnership in 2020, Akshay Jaitly had said,

“For personal reasons, my family and I are moving to France shortly and I will be stepping down from the Trilegal partnership. It is hard to believe that 20 years have passed since we set up the firm at the turn of the millennium and no one could have asked for a more exciting and fulfilling career journey than I have been privileged to have had over the past two decades."

Update: With his return to New Delhi, Akshay will be reinstated as an equity Partner.

Sridhar Gorthi and Nishant Parikh, Partners, and Members of the Management Committee at Trilegal, said,

“We are thrilled to welcome Akshay back to the firm. Akshay has established himself as an expert on critical issues surrounding renewable resources and energy transition and is a valuable member of the firm’s thought leadership.”

Sharing his thoughts on returning to Trilegal, Akshay said,

“I am delighted to be back. I have seen the firm’s growth in these past three years with great satisfaction and pride, as it continues to demonstrate its commitment to clients and setting benchmarks in the legal industry. I look forward to working with both new and familiar faces and contributing to the firm’s continued success.”

Trilegal was set up in 2000 by Anand Prasad, Akshay Jaitly, Karan Singh, Rahul Matthan and Sridhar Gorthi.
