Former SAM Partner Sapan Gupta made Global General Counsel of ArcelorMittal

Gupta was National Practice Head of SAM's Banking & Finance practice till April 2020.

Sapan Gupta, who is currently General Counsel of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, has been elevated as Global General Counsel of the company.

He will serve in the new post with effect from June 1, 2021.

Gupta is a graduate of Delhi University and holds an LL.M from Harvard Law School.

He has previously worked with Sidley Austin in New York, after which he moved to Standard Chartered Bank.

He served as Chief Legal Officer of Bajaj Finserve, before moving to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM), where he was National Practice Head of the firm's Banking & Finance practice. He moved to ArcelorMittal in April 2020.
