Advaita Legal beefs up its tax litigation practice with 3 new hires

Advaita Legal has strengthened their tax litigation with three hires.

Kamal Sawhney, a Senior Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department in the Delhi High Court has joined the Corporate Tax Litigation team. Recently, Arijit Chakravarty also joined the same team. The third hire is Dharnendra Kumar Rana, who will join the firm’s Indirect Tax Litigation team.

Sawhney, a graduate of NLSIU Bangalore, has over 14 years of litigation practice and previously worked with the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas.

Chakravarty has previously worked with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and was one of the initial members of PDS Legal in Delhi.

Rana, who was practicing as an independent practitioner, has previously worked for BMR Legal, Soham Legal and Mazars.

When contacted, Sujit Ghosh, Partner and National Head of Advaita Legal commented,

In the last 2 ½ years of the Firm, we have made steady progress in our capabilities by hiring senior resources and expanding to newer practice areas…”

Just last year, the firm had roped in Madhav Rao and Satyajit Gupta from BMR Legal and Khaitan & Co respectively.

Ghosh also revealed the firm’s plan of strengthening its tax litigation practice.
