Bar & Bench

After his tenure of three years as managing partner of the firm coming to an end on March 31, 2019, Amitabh Sharma has stepped down from the position of firm’s managing partner effective April 1, 2019.

Sharma will continue to be engaged with the firm as an Of Counsel.

HSA Founder Hemant Sahai stated,

“I am grateful to Amitabh for bringing his varied experience, immense energy and for introducing diverse new management practices. He has been instrumental in defining a new growth trajectory for the firm and cleaning up significant legacy barriers to growth that we had been encountering.

I am happy that Amitabh will continue to be engaged with the firm as an of-counsel, to manage the client relationships that he has regularly been advising over the years apart from pursuing other interests outside the firm. I wish him all the best in his endeavours.”

Amitabh had joined HSA in May 2016 from Khaitan & Co as its new Managing Partner. Amitabh has previously worked at J. Sagar Associates, with a specialization in infrastructure, energy and natural resources.

Earlier this month, as many as eight partners from HSA Advocates left the firm to join DSK Legal. Among the movers were HSA Senior Partners Aparajit Bhattacharya and Anjan Dasgupta, along with their respective teams.

HSA has recently hired Gaurav Sahay from Kochhar & Co as a Partner in Bangalore and Faranaaz Karbhari has joined as a Counsel in Mumbai office.
