AZB, Indus top Venture Intelligence PE League Tables for 2013 H1; Khaitan, AZB share top spot in M&A League

Venture Intelligence, a research organisation focusing on commercial transactions in India, recently released its Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions League Tables for the first half of 2013. AZB & Partners has topped the Private Equity League Table while it shares the top spot with Khaitan & Co. in the M&A League Table.

Private Equity

AZB & Partners has topped the table with 72 points from 19 deals including KKR’s investment in Alliance Tire Group and Baring Asia’s investment in Lafarge India.

IndusLaw, Samvad Partners and Tatva Legal share the 2nd spot with 8 deals each while K Law, with 28 points from 7 deals, is placed in the 3rd position.

Lexygen is a new entrant in the table having garnered 16 points from 4 deals thereby sharing the 4th spot with ALMT, Khaitan, J Sagar Associates and S&R Associates.

Mergers & Acquisitions

AZB & Partners, with 50 points from 14 deals, and Khaitan & Co. with the same number of points from 13 deals are the joint table toppers. Aliaxis Group’s acquisition of Ashirvad Pipes and Bharti Airtel’s acquisition of Warid Telecom are some of the significant deals in which AZB advised while Khaitan’s 13 deals included Hassad Foods’ acquisition of Bush Foods and Coromandel International’s acquisition of Liberty Phosphate.

Amarchand Mangaldas, last year’s M&A topper is placed 2nd in the list with 40 points from 11 deals.

HSA Advocates and J Sagar Associates share the 3rd spot with 20 points from 5 deals.
